Defective Beds & Mattresses Recalled

Few people imagine that they will be injured in their sleep, but defective beds and mattresses can do just that. Recently, manufacturers issued recalls for several bed frames, mattresses, and bunk beds because they posed unacceptable risk of injury.

Each year, defective products injure thousands of people unwittingly and cost victims millions of dollars. Contact a Miami personal injury lawyer today to review whether you have a legal claim.

Children Can Fall from Bunk Beds

Casa Kids recalled their Cabina Bunk Beds on March 4, 2021 for posing a fall hazard. Apparently, screws which hold the mattress foundation in place can become loose, leading to a collapse. (This has already happened on at least 9 beds.) Your child could be injured in a fall, so Casa Kids recommends that you immediately stop using the bed and inspect the screws that connect the foundation to the guardrails.  Contact the manufacturer directly for a new set of screws.

Mattress Fails to Meet Flammability Standard

The federal government adopts standards that manufacturers must meet so that their products do not pose a risk of catching on fire. Sadly, many products come to market failing to meet these standards, and this is what happened with HOFISH’s mattress, which was sold on Amazon. The manufacturer issued a recall on March 17, 2021.

The mattress in question is the 10-inch Hybrid Certi-PUR Certified Foam and Pocket Spring Mattress, which sold for around $200 in late 2019. You should immediately stop using the mattress and contact the manufacturer, which will provide a fitted cover for free. This cover will bring the mattress into compliance with applicable flammability standards.

Platform Bed Frames Could Collapse

HR Platform bed frames sold under the Bed Tech brand have been recalled. The company issued the recall after receiving about 100 reports of the bed frames collapsing. Fortunately, no one has yet been seriously injured. Consumers should contact Global Home Imports for a repair kit with metal clips which can strengthen the frame. The kit is provided for free.
