Violent attack leaves Florida college student severely injured

College safety is a growing concern among students and residents in Florida. Although there are security measures such as equipment and personnel in place to offer students some degree of protection, criminal assaults can and do still happen in many places near and around secondary education institutions, apartments and common access areas. Students may become the victims of violence such as physical attacks, sexual assaults and other events that lead to serious harm.

Recently, a 19-year old student was assaulted near Florida State University. Law enforcement officials are not aware of a motive and are actively looking for the victim's assailants. Other information about the event is currently not known to the public. What is known is that the perpetrators were not apprehended at the time of the report.

The victim, Dante Stallone, is the half-brother of actor and director Sylvester Stallone, and is known as a well-mannered and successful student. His injuries were so severe that his recovery from the incident and subsequent surgery may take several weeks. The altercation left him seriously injured, knocking out several of his teeth, splitting his palate and breaking his jaw.

It is not necessarily simple for students to assess their surroundings and situations to know when danger is imminent. Nor is it possible to accurately guess the intent of their peers and anyone who passes by. Many people who find themselves dealing with the aftermath of violence on college campuses may find that an attorney may be able to provide advice on how they may overcome the damages and other consequences more easily.
